This is the CAMIRO Project 10E01 Phase 1 report by Hall, Buchar, and Bonham-Carter carried out for CAMIRO (Canadian Mining Industry Research Organisation) and entitled Quality Control Assessment of Portable XRF Analysers: Development of Standard Operating Procedures, Performance on Variable Media and Recommended Uses, 2012. It focuses on the testing of geological control reference materials using five portable XRF instruments from three manufacturing companies.

It focuses on (a) calibration strategies and matrix effects; (b) direct analysis of rocks and ores; (c) soil analysis; and (d) moisture effects.
