Terms of Use

Association of Applied Geochemists (AAG) Effective date: 2026-08-27

These terms govern the use of this website and of AAG membership purchased through it. By using the site or applying for membership you agree to them.

Membership

Membership runs per calendar year and expires on December 31 of the year for which dues were paid. Dues depend on membership type and, for some types, on the World Bank income classification of your country of residence, as shown during application. Renewal is not automatic: we send reminder emails, and you renew by logging in and paying online. Online renewal remains available through a grace period after expiry (currently until the end of February); after that, contact the AAG Business Office to reinstate your membership.

Applications for some membership types (such as Student and Post-Doctoral membership) are subject to verification and approval; membership begins once the application is approved and dues are paid. For other types, membership begins when dues are received. By applying, you confirm the information you provide is accurate, and you agree to abide by the AAG Code of Ethics.

Membership benefits (such as journal access, newsletters, and the Members Area) are as described on this website and may evolve over time.

Payments and refunds

Dues are charged in US dollars and processed by Stripe on Stripe’s secure payment pages. For questions about a payment, or to request a refund in exceptional circumstances, contact the AAG Business Office; refunds are at the Association’s discretion and are returned to the original payment card.

Your account

Your membership and account are personal to you. Keep your login credentials confidential and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account, and you can change your password and email address on your account page. Tell the Business Office promptly if you believe your account has been misused.

Members-only content and acceptable use

Materials in the Members Area (including symposium abstract volumes, course notes, recorded lectures, and newsletters) are provided for your personal, non-commercial use as a member. Do not redistribute, republish, or systematically download them, and do not share access with non-members. Journal content is additionally subject to the terms of the respective publishers.

The member directory may be used only for normal collegial contact between members. Extracting, compiling, or using directory information for commercial purposes, recruitment lists, or bulk communication is not permitted.

Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website, other members’ accounts, or restricted content, and do not use the site in any way that violates applicable law. We may suspend or terminate access, or decline or cancel a membership, in cases of serious misuse or breach of these terms or of the AAG Code of Ethics, under the Association’s governing procedures.

Content and intellectual property

The content of this website is owned by the AAG or its respective authors and licensors and is protected by copyright. Publications offered as free downloads may be used for personal and educational purposes; they may not be resold.

Disclaimers

The website and its content are provided in good faith for the information of members and the geochemical community, without warranties of any kind. Scientific content reflects the work and views of its authors. To the extent permitted by law, the AAG is not liable for indirect or consequential damage arising from use of the website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

General

We may update these terms from time to time; the effective date above shows the current version, and continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it.
